Weddings, wife-beaters, and crazy ol’ Kietzman

Published by jhart227 under Uncategorized Edit This

Good to be back in the ol’ blogosphere today.  I had a bit of a hectic last weekend, celebrating the brand-new, fully loaded, 2008 model of Mr. and Mrs. Jerad and Sarah Stock!  Congratulations to them both, swell kids, really.  It was a fun time and I got to see a lot of people I hadn’t in a while.  Apparently, my friend Dirk is having a torrid love affair with Michael Dukakis,… or something.  He might have just met his daughter.  I also ran into legendary Examiner reporter Hugh Welsh.  He heard a rumor from an unnamed source that Louie Aguiar might stop by to slice the first piece of wedding cake and chip in $25,000 for the money song.  Unfortunately, both of these reports were false.  Bam Morris was at the ceremony, however, and I tipped him $5.  Excellent service at the cash bar, Bam Bam.

Anyways, I wanted to comment on a couple of things real quickly.  One, I am truly, terribly sorry I mispronounced the wife-beater’s name.  Apparently, “Alberto Callapso” is named “Alberto Callaspo.”  The WIFE-BEATER is named ALBERTO CALLASPO, not Alberto Callapso.  Terribly sorry.  Horrible mistake.  I guess the Royals just put him on the DL for… what was it called again?  Can you put a guy on the disabled list for having severe bouts of “Chronic D-baginess”?  Get well, wife beater.

Also saw that Jose Guillen said, “F— the fans” and kind of apologized.  I actually side with Guillen on this, and not on Kietzman.  I’m getting ready to go to a wedding rehearsal, turn on WHB, and Kietzman is talking about, what, suspending the guy for 90 days?  I have to say, are you out of your mind, Kietzman?  It almost sounds like he has a vendetta with this guy.  Let me say this: I really enjoy Kevin Kietzman’s show.  I think it’s top-notch, and has done a lot saving sports radio in this town.  When he’s not talking for an hour about local golf tournaments, it is appointment radio.  But lately, his Guillen bashing has been out of bounds and borderline personal.

My advice that you didn’t ask for nor didn’t want: back down.  Your comments have been too out there lately, and are now biased.  Yes, there’s a reason he’s been with so many teams, and yes, he really, really, really shouldn’t have said that about the fans.  He is an emotional guy and isn’t the most elequent speaker.  His point was clear, though.  He’s been playing through pain, and he gets booed.  That tears you up; that hurts.  Just because he only talks to the media when he’s upset gives you absolutely no right to slam him.  Well, I’m sorry, it does give you a right (first amendment and all), but it just seems petty now.  A 90 day suspension?  Really?  Those are foolish words, and you are not a foolish man, Kietzman.  Guillen’s just an emotional, mouthy ballplayer who hits really well and defends his manager and general manager.  He doesn’t need to love the fans.  He just needs to hit… and not hit his wife, unlike a certain Royals utility player who we would rather put on the DL than just straight-up release.

Tomorrow I’ll be talking about Amy Winehouse, or ALF.  Who knows?  Maybe that movie Patch Adams.  Man, that movie sucked.
